Soup - We going to
write about whatever we going thru. That’s all because you can’t
really pinpoint how your going to feel two years from now. We just
gonna write about whatever we go through,
hopefully it’s more
cool stuff than bad stuff. That’s what I hope for.
PUR - Your music seems
to be pretty radio and MTV friendly, to me anyway.
Chali - Oh I wish
MTV felt that way. Don’t open that up now.
Akil - M2 friendly.
PUR - M2 friendly?
Akil - Naw, MTV you
know they decided to decided to like play us on Direct Effect and stuff
like that you know what I’m saying?
Chali - Were lookin’
for the big TRL!
(Everybody sighs)
Soup - If your going
to play it, play it. If your going to play us on variety shows play
it. If you going to play it, play it!
PUR - What’s up with
TRL anyway. I don’t know. Anyway, is there um, any pressure
on you to write any even more radio friendly stuff or anything like that?
You guys don’t have pressures like that huh? Or you don’t regard
it as important if it does happen?
Chali - I don’t know
like I mean it’s like what he said, we just going to write about what we
going through. We never really was out there trying to do it like
that. You know what I’m saying?
Akil - So we can sell
records that’s what they want. I mean if we get a radio hit that’s
all for the better but they want the hit just so they can sell records.
So they can pump it to a lot of people.
Chali 2na - Exactly.
Akil - You can’t tell
me that uh, Wild Thing for instance. Wild Thing waddn’t when I heard
Wild Thing I didn’t think nuttin' like ooh man that’s radio all-day.
Soup - Yea but if
they play it you catch a buzz. I hate that shit.
Akil - Like Ice Cube
sold a million records with out radio or a video.
