Drowning Pool: An Interview with Mike Luce
(continued)
little bit here and there. A few lessons tucked
under our belt, but nothing substantial.
You know the Bodies is such a good tune, it
just rocks so hard and has such tremendous drive and feeling to it. I dig
listening to it. What does “let the bodies hit the floor” mean, does it
have any significance?
It’s basically our point of view from the
stage watching the crowd when they just start erupting and getting crazy.
Right on, and they do.
Oh yeah, just getting out there and just knocking
each other around. You know, don’t get too crazy with it. Help each other
up. It’s basically just watching them relieve.
You guys can generate a serious pit.
That’s what we are trying to do.
So do you agree, you mentioned Tool earlier,
do you agree with the comparisons that the press is making that your band
to say Tool or even Korn, or kind of a mix of that?
You know what to be honest, Tool is, there
is no way we could live up to being as bad-ass as they are so I don’t see
where anyone can get that comparison, but, I mean that’s not bad company
to be in so I’ll definitely except it graciously. But no, none
of us are nowhere near the caliber musicians that they are.
Right on, well Dave Williams, I guess his
vocal style has some similarities to Maynard James Keenan that's one of the reasons. He, Dave, really has
the ability to deliver some in your face lyrics with a lot of power. I
had a question and a thought. Do you think he could pull off a killer ballad?
I think so.
Do you have any acoustic songs recorded?
No we don’t have anything. The only thing
we do have that’s acoustic is, we have done ‘Tear Away’ at a couple of
radio appearances. We did it in the studio. A’ la unplugged. We have
that somewhere. I don’t even think I’ve ever heard it.
Yeah, that would be cool to have I think.
Yeah, I would definitely like to hear that.
Matter of fact that reminds me I wonder what the hell ever happened to
that thing.
