Drowning Pool: An Interview with Mike Luce
(continued)
In terms of your connection with Sevendust.
Was that a coincidence or what? I mean how did they hook you guys up?
Did they get you your deal with Wind-Up or how did that work?
No what happened was, well how it is that
we know them, a few years ago when we were just starting in Dallas, John,
one of the guitarist lived there and he was just out in the music scene
and we just met them and got to know them. We kept pestering them to let us
go out on a couple shows. This was probably May or June of ‘99. They were
the first band that really did anything for us. We did a couple of shows
with them and the radio there in Dallas got wind of it and started getting
behind us and playing our E.P which is ultimately what ended up getting
in the hands of Wind-Up.
That E.P. is that, has that been released ever?
Yeah it has. We released it probably October
or November of last year. Then when we got signed they just went ahead
and re-released it, but only put a certain amount of units out.
I see. So will you be touring with Sevendust
any more this year?
Yeah we’ll finish out with them, we’ll stay
with them all the way through September 19th.
Then you are gonna start another tour?
Yeah then we will start with Disturbed on
the 22nd, and we’ll go all the way through Thanksgiving, then we will take
a little break. I think we’ve got like ten days or so and then we start
doing some radio shows and some possible overseas dates.
So the way things are going you should be
headlining pretty soon don’t you think?
There’s been talk about that I think. We are
a sponsored band by Jaager Meister and they want us to headline a tour
in February. I think that’s all tentative right now, but that’s definitely
been talked about.
Who is you’re a&R guy over at Wind Up?
Victor Murgatroyd.
Victor?
Yeah
He’s pretty stoked I’ll bet.
