DAVE CHAPPELLE'S BLOCK PARTY IN THEATRES MARCH 3!

RISE AGAINST
Siren Song of the Counter Culture (Dreamworks 8-10-2004)
Rise Against is a band to watch out for. They appeared as the so cal punk band in the very well received "Lords of Dogtown" movie about skating pools in the 70's. They were playing a Black Flag cover song. The part wasn't a far stretch for them, and that cameo turned out to be great exposure.
They were first signed on Fat Mike's punk label Fat Wreck where in 2001 they released the hardcore punk, "The Unravelling," that was followed by "Revolutions Per Minute" in 2003. Major label Dreamworks SKG released their 2004 12 songer "Siren Song of the Counter Culture," which was produced by Gggarth Richardson (Rage Against The Machine, Chevelle, Sick Of It All).
SSOFCC is now charting at number 6 on Billboard's Heatseekers Album Chart. It is an appealing mix of the hardcore screamo vox with melodic surf, skate-punk and nicely finessed vocal harmonies. There is a political dissatisfaction evident in their lyrics, but they are not preaching anarchy or anything like it.
Rise Against will be one of the many artists featured on the upcoming soundtrack for "Tony Hawk's American Wasteland." This video game soundtrack will include brand new and previously unreleased music from Rise Against and other artists such as Fall Out Boy, My Chemical Romance, Thrice, Taking Back Sunday, Alkaline Trio, Thursday and Senses Fail. Look for the album in stores on October 18!
The band is now off to Austrailia to do a few shows, according to their website. Good stuff. Go get the record.

Fall Out Boy: From Under the Cork Tree (Island)
Fall Out Boy, who have played nearly 500 dates over the last two years, are the featured artist on THE NINTENDO FUSION TOUR which starts September 30 in Detroit. Tickets for the tour which runs through November 23, 2005 can be found online at http://www.nintendofusiontour.com/.
